Week 5 Term 4
Nightcliff Primary School
Newsletter Week 5 Term 4
We are now halfway through the term. All students need to attend school consistently until the end of the term to complete a full year of learning. We will recognise students’ efforts at the Presentation Assembly to be held on the 8th of December.
Reporting to Parents
Student reports will be sent home in Week 10. Students will be assessed for grading against the achievement standards of the Australian Curriculum for each year level. Additionally English and Mathematics comments will include next steps for parents and carers to work on with children at home in preparation for the next school year.
We encourage parents and carers to contact teachers at any time during the year for academic progress updates, information on how you can support your child’s learning at home and if there are any concerns for social and emotional wellbeing, particularly if events or circumstances have changed or occurred with the family. Contact with your child’s teacher is important so the wellbeing and academic support of your child can be monitored at school and children feel safe.
Your school survey in action
We’ve collated and analysed the school survey and will provide responses and/or actions each week. Two things that have come up are fair and equitable application of playground behaviour infringements and understanding when and why students can be suspended including the suspension process for our school. We’ve actioned and addressed this by revising the Student Wellbeing and Behaviour Policy to align with the Department of Education’s new guidelines on suspension and student wellbeing and behaviour management.
Strategic planning 2024-2027
The strategic planning process was discussed at last night’s special general meeting and will be now placed on the school website in draft form for feedback from parents and carers from next week from Wednesday onwards. Teaching staff will complete their input into the plan next Tuesday at the staff meeting. We encourage all parents and carers to have a say in the direction of the school’s education plans for improvement which are guided by the recommendations of the school review and selection of key areas which drive the signature strategies applied to improving academic and wellbeing outcomes for students. We include the feedback provided from the school survey in the strategic plan where possible and seek ongoing feedback through the ‘Contact Us’ form on our website.
Colour Fun Run
School Fun Run Crazy Colour Day
Last Friday we held our Crazy Colour Day as Nightcliff Primary School’s major fundraising event. It was an exciting afternoon enjoyed by all. Students rotated through a series of fun activities and staff had a blast squirting them with colour!
It was a great reward for all your fundraising efforts. Thank you! Funds raised will go towards Library books, iPad and Laptop trollies and a Library Interactive Whiteboard.
Fundraising closes today. The total amount raised, and presentation of the cheque will be announced next Friday at Assembly. As we had reached our $18 000 goal, it was slime time for Mrs Glennon and Mr Kundan at lunchtime today!
Students who have raised $10 or more can redeem their prizes online from Friday 10th November until Thursday 16th November. All prizes will be delivered to the school during Weeks 9 and 10.
