Week 5 Term 3
Nightcliff Primary School Newsletter
Hi families,
Can you believe we are halfway through the term already?. This week we celebrated National Science Week through the classes. Students have participated in experiments in class such as volcanoes, dying of celery, exploring the binary code, making play dough and cloud dough and many more. Classes invited in guest speakers to talk about mini beasts, mapping and GPS. Students ended the day by watching the diet coke and mentos explosion and the Year 4 Egg Drop Challenge; seeing which students had created a vessel to protect their egg when it was dropped from 2 metres.
Please come along tonight to the Movie Night starting at 5.30pm on the oval. There will be food and drinks for sale from 5.30pm with the movie beginning when it is dark.
Next week we celebrate Children’s Book Week throughout the school with students able to dress up as their favourite book character on Friday 25th August.
Please remember to complete our Parent School Survey so we can continue to enact feedback and grow as a school.

The Shortlist Brunch was a fun, fast-paced morning where members of the Darwin community came together to review the shortlisted books ahead of the CBCA Book of the Year Awards announcement.
AFL Championships
Eve and Amira were both selected for the girl’s side. The girl’s team won the overall Fair Play Award, arguably the best award to win for the whole Championship!
Mason was selected for the boy’s team. The true territory spirit of hard work and determination shone through in their games. We congratulate these three Nightcliff Primary School students on being chosen to represent at such a high level. We wish them all the best for the upcoming season at Nightcliff Tigers. Go the Tiges!!
Teddy Bears Picnic at Preschool
2 Witte, 2 Hardie and 2 Fraser enjoyed an afternoon picnic eating fruit and biscuits with their preschool friends, and then having a play in the preschool playground.
Week 4 Assembly
1 Bryson and 1 Bubb / Ruane hosted the early childhood assembly in week 4. They did a fantastic job of reading and singing to “Rock-a-Bye Your Bear” by The Wiggles!
Congratulations to all the award winners!
Transition - Science Week
Transition Elliott/Politis did two experiments as part of Science Week. Frist they did Celery Experiment where water moved up into the celery and the celery change colour. Second they did the bicarb and vinegar experiment where when mixed they create water and carbon dioxide and the carbon dioxide creates the bubbles in the reaction.
