Week 3 Term 3
Nightcliff Primary School Newsletter
Welcome to Week 3,
Friday was World Principals’ Day and each year we ask our School Captains to become Principal for a Day. Today they have drafted this week’s newsletter article from the Principals.
Dear Parents/ carers.
We would like to ask you if there any parents/carers that would like to volunteer in helping the school council re-open the bike hospital (see school council news).
We would also like parents/ carers or anybody willing to lend a hand if they could help with the movie night on the 18th of August (please see flyer).
The school would like to inform you of a talk given to our year six students this week, about the law around vaping and the mobile phone policy. If a student has taken a phone or smartwatch to school, please notify the front office as the phones and smartwatches can be kept safe in the locker.
Thank you
-School Captains
Transition Classes
Last Wednesday the Transition classes celebrated 100 days of school. They dressed up as 100 year old people to celebrate.

Kate and Jol Temple Author Visit
Last Thursday 27th July, we had the pleasure of hosting Kate and Jol Temple at Nightcliff Primary. They were visiting Darwin from Sydney and shared their love of writing with our students. Some of their fantastic books include the Bin Chicken series, the Under Dogs series and The Dangerous Business of Being Trilby Moffat. Kate and Jol were lots of fun, sharing their ‘pet’ bin chicken and playing tennis with some lucky students. They were very inspirational, and we hope to see some of our buddy writers featuring in some of the special events happening around our community.
NPS Bike Hospital: Looking for Volunteers!
For the last seven years, NPS has run a Bike Hospital once a week at the school. The bike hospital sets up between 7.30am and 8.15am outside the middle years Bike Shed and does routine maintenance (pumping tyres, fixing brakes, etc.) on student’s bikes. The aim is to promote safe and active travel to the school and encourage a positive and enthusiastic bike culture at the school.
The bike hospital has been dormant for most of 2023 and we are looking for some volunteers to revive the scheme. Opening days (weekly, fortnightly, monthly) are open for suggestion. If you are interested in helping encourage our kids riding, contact the front office.
