Week 6 Term 1
Nightcliff Primary School Newsletter
It’s Dalay (Monsoon) Season for Gulumoerrgin (Larrakia) country. The water gushes from rivers and creeks, and some floodplains are buried under lakes of water. As the water disperses seeds and new plants are sprouting. Manmanma (cyclones) are seem more frequent and are a sign of a troubled planet.
Welcome to Week 6. We have a couple of busy weeks ahead:
NAPLAN (Weeks 7 and 8) for Year 3 and 5 students – parent information sheet will be available on the website on Monday.

Year 6 Mackie & Fowler
Year 6 Mackie & 6 Fowler - have been exploring the characters of our class novel ‘Holes’
In groups, students created a ‘STORYBOOK’ profile for a chosen character to investigate their personalities, potential interests, and the role they play within the book. We have discussed why the author might have made these decisions and what their role as a character adds to the plot.
The Year 6’s have also used the program Story Board to recreate scenes from Holes, helping us to work towards summarizing chapters and the overall plot by using specific evidence from the text to interpret the authors intentions.
