Week 10 Term 4
Nightcliff Primary School Newsletter
It’s Balnba (Rainy) Season for Gulumoerrgin (Larrakia) country. Boewitjba (Bush Potato) is collected now and can be found by its small bell-shaped flowers. The start of the wet season brings on fruiting of Moerrma (Black Plum).
Welcome to Week 10 and the last newsletter for 2022.
This week has seen our students showcase their abilities and talents with the Upper Primary Times Table Challenge, the NPS Talent Show and NTMS Music Performance. We certainly have a fantastic cohort of students who bring so much to our school.
Today students had the opportunity to head to their new classroom and have lunch with their new teacher, and needless to say, there were many excited faces as I moved through classrooms. Reports and classing information will go home this afternoon with students. If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
Northern Territory Learning Commissioners
Today our Northern Territory Learning Commissioners (NTLC) made their pitch to the Chief Minister, Hon Natasha Fyles. Students spoke of their positive work around continuous school improvement within the areas of Reading, Mathematics and Wellbeing. The programs they have developed, implemented and led include but are not limited to: reading trees, times table challenges, Peer Mediators and Lego club. They should be proud of their efforts and accomplishments. Thank you NTLC!
Congratulations students
A big congratulations to all students who received awards during last Friday’s Presentation Assembly. It was pleasing to see students acknowledged for their hard work and achievements. I would like to take the opportunity to extend that acknowledgement and congratulations to all of our students across our school. Whilst not all students came to the stage to receive an award, we would like to recognise all achievements throughout the year. Well done.
Farewell Year 6
So long and farewell to our Year 6 cohort who have officially graduated from Nightcliff Primary School and head off on a new learning journey into Middle School. Tomorrow, our school will come together in the afternoon to wish our Year 6 students good luck and Bon voyage. All families are welcome.
All the best
All the best to Tynan Brown (Special Education Teacher) and Clare Visentin (Year 6), who are both expecting in the new year. We look forward to some cute baby pictures!
We would also like to say a big thank you and goodbye to Emily Field, Corinne Britton, Sophia Politis and Hayley Chirizzi, who all move on to new roles within new schools. We appreciate their hard work, dedication and passion within their roles, and whilst we will miss them, we are excited about their next chapter.
I too head off next year and would like to take the opportunity to thank the wonderful staff, students and families for an amazing year. Nightcliff Primary School leads the way when it comes to quality education and inclusive practices, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. We are a big school but we are a tight-knit learning community- and that is something special.
Stay safe and enjoy Christmas and the New Year.
