Week 4 Term 4
NPS Nightcliff Primary
It’s Balnba (Rainy) Season for Gulumoerrgin (Larrakia) country. Damugula (Mud Mussels) and Danijarra (Long Bums) are collected on the mud flats as they become exposed by rain.
It’s already November! Only six weeks of school left for the year - where has it gone? Teachers are working with students on their new units of work for this term and finalising assessments for the upcoming reporting period. We also have a large focus on preparing kids for next year, with our Year 6 students already visiting Nightcliff Middle School and our Preschool students coming to visit and play in the Transition spaces in the coming weeks.
Last Friday, students wore red to school to raise funds to support The Daniel Morcombe Foundation on Day for Daniel. The school raised $367.50. Thank you to everyone who was able to donate. We also celebrated World Teacher’s Day and would like to thank Chief Minister Natasha Files for her delivery of morning tea and School Council members for creating delicious curries for lunch. In the evening, celebrations continued as the Nightcliff Primary School Intervention Team won the Darwin Region award for their outstanding work. We would like to congratulate Tynan Brown, Helen Cleanthous, Sue Folley and Lee-Anne Puddey.
This Friday, we have Ride2School Day, and students can wear their casual clothes as part of the SRCs Fun Fridays.
As it is nearing the end of the year, please let the school know if you will not be attending our school next year. A note went home at the start of the term requesting an update of all student contact details and notification if your child will be leaving NPS. We are currently finalising staffing for 2023, and having accurate numbers allows this to be done effectively.
It is continuing to heat up this term, so please remember to send water bottles and hats every day. The library is open at recess on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for Lego Club and every day at lunchtime.

Fynn - selected as a Junior Team Rider
Fynn is a very keen kitesurfer and has been kiting since he was 7. On a windy day, he will most likely be one of the kites out at Rapid Creek. He has worked incredibly hard over the past few years and is very excited to have just been selected as a Junior Team Rider for Duotone Australia (a national kitesurfing brand) and Kite Republic (a Melbourne-based kitesurfing shop).
This is a massive achievement for someone so young and a kid from the Territory!! This will allow Fynn to ride and learn from the best pro kitesurfers in Australia and give him exposure at a national level to develop. Well done, Fynn!
