Student update:
- NT Learning Commissioners are attending their midway pitch to the Minister on 16th September.
Student citizenship continues to boom with a large box of student voice data collected in the library. This analysis and student survey were undertaken by the NT Learning Commissioners.
Curriculum
The updated Australian Curriculum Version 9 has been analysed by teachers, who have been encouraged to start using these for planning documents going forward. There are some significant changes in Mathematics, EAL/D and HPE, particularly in relationships and sexuality education, and as such, we will be sending a teacher to Professional learning sessions released by ACHPER to assist teachers in these areas. The curriculum map has been updated to include v9.
Professional Learning
Year 6 teachers have met with NMS in regards to Engagement through Technology (iPads) project.
Communications
The school website has undergone some further renovations to streamline events and news updates and enable urgent communications to be at the forefront of the webpage as we receive Industrial Action notices.

Creative Arts Group
Ms Costelloe Creative Arts Group students have been exploring relief printing using foam blocks. They have experimented with different carving implements and water-based ink to create artworks centred around their values and interests.
To Celebrate National HPE Day, Nightcliff Primary School held ‘Staff vs Students’ 3x3 Basketball Matches. 3x3 basketball is a new Olympic and Commonwealth Games sport. It is a variation of traditional basketball and is played three-a-side, with one backboard and in a half-court setup.
The matches were played in a great spirit and were a lot of fun. They were umpired by Darwin Salties NBL players and were a great spectacle drawing a large crowd of NPS staff and students. Our Year 6 students took it up to their mentors but were eventually overpowered by their more experienced opponents. The teachers ran out 41 to 22 winners and collected our School new ‘Staff vs Students' 3x3 Basketball perpetual trophy. The event was so successful that NPS has decided to make it an annual event.
