Week 2 Term 4
Nightcliff Primary School
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term Four! We hope you all had a wonderful break and are ready for an exciting term ahead.
As the weather heats up, please remember to send your child with a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. A friendly reminder: no hat, no play! It’s important for our students to stay safe and protected from the sun.
We’d like to inform you that PAT testing is currently underway for students in Years 1 to 6. Each student will sit a math's and reading PAT test, which helps us assess their skills and support their learning journey effectively. Please encourage your child to do their best!
Next Friday, October 25th, we will celebrate World Teachers' Day. It’s a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for our dedicated teachers who work hard every day to inspire and educate our students.
Additionally, we will be holding a School Council Meeting next week on Tuesday, October 22nd in the staffroom at 5 PM. We encourage all interested parents to attend and share their thoughts.
Lastly, mark your calendars for our School Disco on Thursday, November 7th! It promises to be a fun-filled evening for all.
Looking forward to a fantastic term together!
Warm regards,
Sarah Behan

The Year 3/4 unit will focus on creating and playing percussion instruments. Students will design instruments using every day, recyclable materials while exploring sound production, rhythm, pitch, and timbre. They will craft items like drums and shakers, promoting sustainability and creativity. If you can donate suitable recyclable materials, they’d be appreciated! The unit will end with a group performance, highlighting teamwork and collaboration

In the Year 5/6 unit, students will explore the fundamental elements of music through a series of video tutorials and practical exercises. The lessons will cover key concepts such as stave, rhythm, rests, note values (crotchets, minims, semibreves, quavers, etc.), time signatures and note groupings. Students will use digital scoring software to compose and practice their own musical pieces.
