Week 10 Term 2
Nightcliff Primary School
Good afternoon, Families
As we approach the end of the semester at Nightcliff Primary School, we would like to take a moment to reflect on our collective achievements and share some important updates and highlights on student academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community engagement.
All students from preschool to year six have made progress in their learning goals this semester. Students learned new concepts in mathematics, explored rich literature and engaged with AUSLAN language experiences. Each student has worked hard to engage with their learning journey. Thank you to all of the teachers and educators who have support students learning.
Out extracurricular programs continue to flourish, offering students the opportunity to explore their interests beyond the classroom. Whether through sports, arts, music lessons or outdoor education, our students have demonstrated exceptional talent, teamwork, and leadership skills. Students leapt out of their comfort zone at the Batchelor Outdoor Education Camp, what a privilege to watch students rock climb, compete in archery competitions and get wet’n’wild in team challenges. The personal highlight was the joy of sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows, with students enjoying the simplicity of connection to friends and nature.
The Art Show was a HUGE success with a focus on student’s voice and agency. Students used their self-expression in all stages to express their individuality, from their individual art pieces to the design of the gallery and hanging of works. The event was well attended, artworks appreciated and students proud to share their learning. The money raised through the art sales will support future community, through the purchase of an improved sound system for assemblies and the planned events term three calendar.
The Nightcliff Primary School community thrives on collaboration and support from families, staff, the School Council, and volunteers. The participation in the Mother’s Day and Art Show events and fundraising, attendance at Sports Day and assemblies enhances the educational experience for all students.
To those staff going on long service leave next semester, Ms. Natasha Hardie and Ms. Krissy Magee, we wish you a relaxing break and look forward to seeing you in 2025. We will welcome Ms. Srishti Miglani and Ms. Sophia Politis to the school as the new classroom teachers. The school will also welcome back Ibu Heriata to recommence the Indonesian language program. Auslan will continue with students fortunate to experience additional language education next semester.
With the Dry Season, the three-week vacation and the surrounding locale, students, staff, and families alike are ready to swap the school bag for a beach bag. For those travelling, stay safe and enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you back in Term Three.
Regards
Ranae Graham
