Week 7 Term 2
Nightcliff Primary School
Good afternoon
Earlier in the year a new family was excited to share their joy at reading the welcome sign in their first language. Students often point out their own welcome sign connection to me. Nightcliff Primary School has people from a range of different backgrounds, with over 50 nationalities represented in the school community. The school celebrates its diverse cultures, nationalities, and languages that represent our story.
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This week students, staff and community recognised the significant milestones in the reconciliation journey. Students from preschool to year six engaged with key timelines and events to create a pictorial representation of Australian history. Staff and students wore the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and donated their gold coin contribution to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Each class presented special merit awards for ‘Showing respect when learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island histories and cultures’ and ‘Displaying a positive sense of self’. Reconciliation plays an important role in building relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
‘Take only memories, leave only footprints’- Aboriginal people of Australia, is to leave places better than we found them, through respect and care for our environment and culture of others.

Parent Voluntary Contributions
Parent Voluntary Contributions 2024
Each year the School Representative Board ask parents to consider making a contribution to help the school fund items and activities which the school deems essential for student learning. This year our goal is to raise funds for new sports equipment for students, the school contributions are $180 per year ($45 per term) for Primary school students and $50 per term for Preschool students in 2024.
We will be purchasing equipment to replace old and damaged stock. The possibilities are endless and with your support Nightcliff Primary can continue to excel in all aspects of primary learning.
We accept cash or credit card. Your support and contribution to the school is much appreciated.
